Cineworld plans 30 new multiplexes

Cineworld-THUMB.jpegCineworld is to develop 30 new multiplexes across Europe in the next eight years, including 23 in the UK, according to the group’s annual report.

Of the 23 cinemas planned for the UK, 10 will be delivered in 2015 and the balance will open within three years.

Admissions receipts at the chain’s UK operations fell by £500,000 in the main Cineworld chain but rose by £100,000 across the flagship town-centre Picturehouse brand.

Overall group revenue rose by 1.7% to £619m and pretax profit was up 117% to £67.3m.
