Cineworld has agreed a deal to open a nine-screen cinema as part of the £15.5m second phase of British Land’s and Universities Superannuation Scheme’s Whiteley project in Hampshire.
The project has been granted permission for 60,000 sq ft of leisure use, including additional restaurants and community space.
Construction on the site – to the north-east of Whiteley – will begin in early 2014 with completion scheduled for spring 2015.
The first phase is anchored by a 60,000 sq ft M&S, and has a number of major and independent retailers signed up.
