CIREF jv gets go-ahead for Crewe mixed-use scheme

CIREF joint venture Modus Corovest has received detailed planning consent for a retail-led mixed-use development in Crewe, Cheshire.

The 750,000 sq ft scheme includes 485,000 sq ft of retail space, 120,000 sq ft of office space and 143,000 sq ft of residential space.

Debenhams has been confirmed as anchor tenant taking 85,000 sq ft over three floors, and are to be joined by BHS who will relocate to the scheme.

Located on the New High Street in Crewe town centre, the development includes a new bus station and 850 car parking spaces.

CIREF anticipates work on the scheme to commence in September 2007. The final phase of development is expected to complete in autumn of 2010.

CIREF Director, Mike Watters, said: “We are delighted to be announcing that we have now obtained planning consent for this major development in Crewe and we very much look forward to working with Crewe and Nantwich Council and the local community on this prestigious scheme.

“This is the second key development milestone that CIREF has been able to announce following the company’s successful AIM flotation two weeks ago.”
