US investment bank Citi has revealed plans for a revamp of its UK and Europe headquarters in Canary Wharf, E14.
The bank said its refurbishment of the 42-storey Citi Tower at 25 Canada Square, which it bought in 2019 for just over £1bn, will include flexible workspace, collaboration areas and a focus on wellbeing and technology. WilkinsonEyre is handling the design.
David Livingstone, Citi’s chief executive for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: “Our aim is to create an environmentally sustainable, innovative and exciting place to work, incorporating modern design, state-of-the-art technology and best practices in employee and client spaces. Citi Tower is a significant investment in our people and our growing business in the UK and the broader EMEA region.”
The bank said its decision to refurbish rather than demolish the building would save the release of some 100,000 tonnes of embodies carbon. The renovation is expected to complete in 2025.
