Fast-growing Dutch hotel chain CitizenM has opened its first London site in Southwark. The hotel, on Lavington Street, includes 192 rooms and is the first of four sites planned to open in central London in the next few years. The company is also going through varying stages of planning for schemes in Tower Hill, Holborn Viaduct and Shoreditch. Acquisition & investment director Jasper Muller said citizenM was targeting the London market with an aim to open 10 hotels in the next few years. “Primarily, we would like to go west,” he said. “So we would like to go to Covent Garden, Soho, Midtown, Bloomsbury, Paddington, Victoria, and those sort of areas.” Click below to watch a video of the new citizenM hotel and find out more about the chain’s plans. nathan.cross@estatesgazette.com
