City recommends 22 Bishopsgate plans

The 62-storey design, which features more than 1.3m sq ft of office space, would be the tallest consented tower in the Square Mile if it is approved by the City Corporation’s planning committee next week.

The PLP Architects-designed tower replaces KPF-designed plans for the Pinnacle skyscraper on the site at the junction of Bishopsgate and Threadneedle Street.

The latest scheme has drawn objections from Historic Royal Palaces, Royal Parks and the London boroughs of Tower Hamlets and Islington.

However, City planning officer Annie Hampson’s report said the scheme was compliant with the City’s local plan, citing the proposed free public viewing gallery at the top of the tower as “critical to the acceptability of this major development”.
