City’s big plates fail to appetise
Office space the size of Westfield shopping centre in White City, W12, is sitting empty in the City. More than a quarter of the 1.7m sq ft of large empty floorspace is in EC3.
In total, 33 floors of 10,000 sq ft or more are available in the City, with 22 (or 410,000 sq ft) in EC3, according to Gerald Eve.
Supply is highest for new and refurbished floorplates between 10,000 and 20,000 sq ft, with EC3 boasting the largest number at 19.
Construction in the City hit a seven-year high this quarter, with 1.2m sq ft of space started, the highest since Q3 2007 (see p6).
