Cladding combination with PIR insulation passes safety test

Fire safety tests carried out after the Grenfell Tower fire have found that aluminium cladding panels using a limited combustibility filler and with polyisocyanurate or PIR insulation passed and meets current building regulations guidance.

This combination of materials could be compliant with current building regulations when installed and maintained properly, an advisory group set up by secretary of state for communities and local government, Sajid Javid, said.

Insulation used at Grenfell Tower was made of PIR foam.
