Clarion Europe appoints new CFO and COO

Industrial and logistics investment fund manager Clarion Partners Europe has named former Castlelake managing director Maqbool Mohamed as its new chief financial officer and chief operating officer.

Mohamed will be based in London, where he will manage Clarion Europe’s finance, operations, tax and compliance functions.

He will work closely with chief executive Alistair Calvert and play a key role in devising operational and financial strategy, as well as supporting future fundraising activity.

In his dual role he will lead the development of people, systems and processes frameworks to bolster the firm’s four European offices.

Mohamed spent nearly seven years as managing director and chief financial officer for the European Assets business at Castlelake. During his time there he oversaw its European finance and operations function, helping the business invest in a dozen European jurisdictions across more than 100 transactions.

He also held senior roles at Grove International Partners, Citi Property Investors and Cargill Value Investment.

Calvert said: “Maqbool is a hugely experienced real estate professional. He has an exceptional track record in building high-quality teams, developing strategic partnerships and executing both debt and equity transactions across multiple structures, use classes and geographies.

“As the business goes from strength to strength, these financial and operational skills will be a huge asset.”

Last month Clarion Europe teamed up investment management firm Bouwinvest Real Estate Investors and a second institutional real estate investor to invest €300m in strategically located, core plus, value-add and build-to-core logistics opportunities across Europe.
