Clarion’s office-to-resi scheme in Dorking gets thumbs up

Clarion Housing Group has been given consent by Mole Valley District Council to build a residential scheme on the site of a vacant office in Dorking, Surrey.

The developer will replace the 21,735 sq ft Regent House with 126 homes, all of which will be affordable. The scheme also includes 5,382 sq ft of commercial space.

The scheme, designed by Assael Architecture, will deliver 16% of the council’s annual housing targets. Construction is expected to start in 2025.

Richard Cook, group director of development at Clarion, said: “We aim to create a vibrant community that meets the region’s housing needs while also respecting and enhancing the local environment. Our commitment to quality and sustainability is at the forefront of this development, and we are eager to start building these new homes for the Dorking community.”

Adam Fothergill, associate director at Assael, said: “This project will not only provide 126 new homes at affordable rent but will also create a sustainable and vibrant community. With its prime location next to Dorking (main) train station and the bus interchange, this development is ideally situated to meet the area’s housing needs.”
