MAPIC 2013: Click & collect services are set to be provided at London Underground stations.
Stuart Anderson, Transport for London’s head of retail, confirmed he is talking to providers of click & collect services – which offer public collection points for goods ordered online – as he heads the transformation of retail on the Tube network.
Westfield’s former general manager of leasing, who joined TfL in March, said: “We are a very trusted brand and it makes sense for passengers to collect goods on their way home from work and we are the obvious ones to provide that service – we have got to work on finding space to do that, but that is in the plan.”
Anderson also confirmed he is in talks with national and international retailers about producing trial formats that could operate in Tube stations. “No names yet, but I have spoken to all the supermarkets, most of the high street operators and fashion operators and F&B and restaurants,” he said.
Anderson also revealed more about upgrades to Piccadilly Circus station. “We are going to do very little to [the Piccadilly Circus] showcases. We will just smarten them up and de-clutter the station but we will try and get the same type of retailers in there that represent Regent Street,” he said.
He added that his “vision” is to have Regent Street retailers in the station.
