Clivedale secures planning approval for De Beers HQ

Carlton House Exterior

Westminster City Council has granted Clivedale London planning permission for the refurbishment of De Beers’ current UK headquarters at 20-24 Carlton House Terrace, SW1.

The plans will see two additional floors created, adding 89,000 sq ft of commercial space to the 1970s property.

Clivedale acquired the 103-year lease to the property from a pension fund client of LaSalle Investment Management last year. The Crown Estate is the freeholder.

The building is currently leased to De Beers majority owner Anglo American, but De Beers will move out by March next year, joining Anglo American at 17 Charterhouse Street, EC1.

Tarun Tyagi, chief executive of Clivedale London, said: “This refurbishment and investment will look to attract the high-quality tenants expected within this landmark address. We look forward to delivering our third commercial project, the sixth within our prime central London portfolio, to create a super-prime asset in this iconic location.”
