Developers and housebuilders have just a week left to decide whether to bid for an opportunity on the £4bn Stratford City Olympic Village site.
The latest names to be added to the list of likely bidders are the Duke of Westminster’s Grosvenor, British Land, Crest Nicholson, Countryside, Wimpey Homes and housing association Genesis.
Those almost certain to submit expressions of interest by Friday’s deadline include Lend Lease, Land Securities, Hammerson and Kier Property.
However, Wembley and Dome developer Quintain has decided against it.
London & Continental Railways, which controls the 180-acre site, placed a tender notice in the Official Journal of the European Union at the end of last month for a partner to build the Olympic Village and other commercial and residential elements of the 13.5m sq ft Stratford City scheme.
Westfield, which took full control of the Stratford City Development consortium two weeks ago, is committed to building the first phase of Stratford City, comprising mainly the 1.5m sq ft shopping centre and 1,140 houses.
Development partners for the other phases of the scheme will be chosen in the autumn.
A spokesperson for LCR said: “We have been very pleased with the amount of interest and the calibre of companies.”
