The closure of its distribution centres in Carlisle, Milton Keynes and Stevenage will cost John Lewis Partnership £4m.
More than 250 staff will be laid off as a result of the closures.
The company reported a 26% fall in pretax profit in the six months to the end of July, to £96m, which it attributed largely to pension charges. It said it expects a full-year pretax profit of between £270m and £320m, down from £343m last year.
The sale of property resulted in exceptional income totalling £128m in H1.
