Derbyshire-based Clowes Developments has exchanged unconditional contracts for a 55-acre site on the edge of Congleton, Cheshire, where it plans to build a 23-acre mixed-use development.
Viking Park, which was brought forward by land promoter Richborough Estates, was given the go ahead by Cheshire Council last week.
The mixed-use scheme includes the development of up to 175 homes, a park and wildlife corridors plus a 19,000 sq ft neighbourhood retail centre. The commercial element of the scheme comprises 14 industrial units totalling 185,000 sq ft alongside 33,400 sq ft of offices.
Nick Jones, regional director at Richborough Estates said: “This is set to be a really high-quality scheme for people to live and work and supports Cheshire East’s aim of delivering employment-led growth, homes and community infrastructure.”
Clowes director Marc Freeman added: “We are extremely excited about bringing this scheme forward and delivering a thriving new community with high-quality homes and business space. We are confident that development of the site located on the fringe of Congleton Town will provide a number of economic benefits through the extensive commercial, employment, and residential uses.”
Savills and Legat Owen advised Richborough Estates on the sale. Avison Young advised on planning.
◼ Clowes has also got the go ahead to speculatively build a new 17,308 sq ft shed at Castlewood Business Park in Nottingham. The scheme, on the 1.5m sq ft business park, will also provide two floors of offices.
