CLTX demolishes historic pub without permission

Carlton-TavernCLTX has knocked down a pub in Kilburn, NW6, despite not having permission from the council.

The developer bought the Carlton Tavern last year but was denied planning permission to build a new pub with a four-storey block of flats above it.

The landlady was told the pub would be shutting for an inventory. Instead, bulldozers knocked down the building without taking any safety precautions.

The pub was the last building standing in the area after the Blitz and Historic England intended to recommend it for Grade II listed status.
