A developer that knocked down a London pub without permission has been ordered to rebuild it exactly as it was.
CLTX demolished the Carlton Tavern in Kilburn, NW6, earlier this month without warning after Westminster council turned down its plans to build flats on the site.
The council has now issued an unprecedented enforcement notice ordering the company to “recreate in facsimile the building as it stood immediately prior to its demolition”.
The rebuilt pub is also to receive non-designated heritage asset status, protecting it from demolition in the future.
CLTX is appealing the council’s refusal of planning permission, which could allow it to avoid rebuilding the pub.
