The Co-operative Group is selling a 320,000 sq ft distribution warehouse at Drum Industrial Estate in Chester le Street, County Durham.
The retailer has relocated its food distribution centre to a new adjacent warehouse, leased from developed Gladman last January.
The old facility, on a 22-acre site, is available for sale at around £4.8m or to let at £2.50 to £4 per sq ft and can be divided to accommodate requirements from 30,000 sq ft to 320,000 sq ft.
Nick Atkinson, industrial agency director at DTZ, which advises the Co-op, said: “Drum Industrial Estate is a very well established location just off Junction 63 of the A1 which is why Co-op chose to relocate next door after 40 years there.
“The building includes excellent modern, high-bay warehousing that can be provided with racking and dock level dispatch area, making it ideal for storage and distribution contracts.
“Other facilities provided on site include a fully fitted canteen, two office blocks, vehicle workshops and wash bay which would appeal to transport and haulage companies.”
