The Co-operative Bank has provided a £33m loan to finance the major expansion of a college in St Helens, Merseyside.
The improvements to Rainford High Technology College will include 150,000 sq ft of new and refurbished buildings as a result of the 27-year lending facility by the bank.
The loan was provided to a consortium called Environments for Learning, which comprises construction company Interserve and Barclays European Infrastructure Fund, and was made under the St Helens Building Schools for the Future programme.
Interserve also won a design and build contract for De La Salle School in St Helens under the BSF programme, with both contracts having an aggregate construction value of about £48m.
