Cole Waterhouse kicks off Wembley University plan

Cole Waterhouse has submitted plans for a £100m mixed-use scheme close to Wembley Stadium in north-west London.

The plans include student accommodation totalling 682 beds and a new campus for the University College of Football Business.

Currently located at Wembley Stadium, the university offers degrees in the football business and wider sport and events industries.

Cole Waterhouse purchased the 1.6-acre site with Topland Group. It will include a 300-seat auditorium, seminar room, study areas, gym, library/IT suite, plus 50,000 sq ft of office space.

The offices will house finance, marketing and student services attached to the university. It is also hoped to accommodate start-ups and incubator space associated with the emerging knowledge base from UCFB Wembley.

Cole Waterhouse chief executive Damian Flood said: “Cole Waterhouse continues to have a strong belief in this area. After being known for years only for the Wembley Arena and Wembley Stadium, the area is becoming increasingly popular with students, start-ups as well as being a great place to live. We saw this potential before acquiring our previous scheme in the area back in 2015 and continue to look for new opportunities in this and the surrounding areas.”

The Manchester and London-based developer has chosen Henry Riley to project manage the scheme. CZWG is the architect and Lichfields is the planning consultant.

Edward Matthews, from the Topland Group, added: “Topland are pleased to be backing another entrepreneurial team and investing in this exciting new project in Wembley. With significant private cash reserves ready to deploy, Topland are extremely well placed to finance these value-add developments. We look forward to working with the team at Cole Waterhouse who have a strong pipeline of similar schemes.”
