Collective unveils Stratford resi plan

Collective-Stratford-570pxProperty start-up The Collective has unveiled plans for a 30-storey residential tower in Stratford, E15.

The scheme, designed by PLP Architecture, will provide 330 homes for young professionals at 302-312 Stratford High Street, E15. It will include a proportion of homes for Newham residents, as well as office space for start-ups, a restaurant, roof terrace and cafés.

The scheme is the most ambitious project to date by The Collective, run by 26-year-old entrepreneur Reza Merchant.

The firm, founded in 2011 to provide affordable shared living space for young Londoners, has designed and managed
more than 1,000 rooms in the capital including schemes in King’s Cross, NW1; Camden, N7; Hyde Park, W2; Acton, W3; and Notting Hill, W11.

The Stratford scheme, which has now undergone a public consultation, will be submitted to the London Legacy Development Corporation, the London borough of Newham and the Greater London Authority for approval later this autumn.

It sits within the Stratford Metropolitan Masterplan Area, which has a target to build up to 8,000 homes.

The scheme will include the retention of the Builders Arms pub and the demolition of buildings currently occupied by the West Ham Labour party, which will relocate to the Old Town Hall in Canning Town.
