Columbus to sail ahead

Columbus Tower, a planned 1m sq ft, 63-storey mixed-use tower next to Canary Wharf, has been given the go-ahead. Tower Hamlets this week granted planning permission for the scheme – to include a hotel and health club, as well as 324,000 sq ft of offices and 24,000 sq ft of shops – on a site at the western end of West India Quay, E14. The 784ft tower will be developed by SKMC and Farnham Properties. DTZ is advising on the commercial space. GVA Grimley is the planning consultant.
