Comet has resurrected its requirement for a warehouse of between 18,580 sq m and 27,870 sq m (200,000 sq ft and 300,000 sq ft) in the Midlands.
The retail chain is understood to be looking to take a five year lease on inexpensive but efficient second hand space. The move follows parent company Kingfisher’s £70m acquisition of Norweb’s 70 out-of town superstores and 60 shops. The new warehouse is expected to house both Norweb and Comet goods.
But with Michelin close to signing on the 33,908 sq m (365,000 sq ft) former Argos unit in Penkridge, there are few suitable options other than 24,154 sq m (260,000 sq ft) former Volvo unit at junction 18 of the M1 and 16,722 sq m (180,000 sq ft) at Droitwich Central.
North Rae Sanders is the sole agent for the latest requirement.
