Commercial cleared for second take-off at Gatwick

The Commercial Park Group has won planning approval for the second phase of its Gatwick Park scheme.

BCL House on Gatwick Road in Crawley and close to Gatwick airport, will be redeveloped into 60,000 sq ft of high-quality office space.

It follows last year’s planning consent for the redevelopment of Northwood House at the site into 110,000 sq ft of grade-A office space.

The Commercial Park Group, is a partnership between developer John Baker and contractor Sir Robert McAlpine, and aims to deliver 2m sq ft of office space, valued at £2bn, across the South East.

Gatwick Park is one of three business hubs being developed. The others are in Haywards Heath and Bromley.

Urban Infill Architects is masterplanning the group’s portfolio.

Baker said: “Securing planning approval for the second phase of Gatwick Park is a great vote of confidence in our wider vision to create a brand new business hub in Crawley.

“Towns such as Crawley, Haywards Heath and Bromley are continuing to grow in their attractiveness to major companies, driven by increased investment in regenerating these areas, and population growth in the South East, as talented professionals increasingly want to live and work in areas that offer more flexibility and affordability.

“These three locations will cater to this, while attracting interest from international office occupiers.”
