A research paper issued by the Institution of Chartered Surveyors today will say commercial property should have a higher weighting in institutional investment portfolios because it has outperformed all other asset classes in the past year.
The report also shows that commercial property has surpassed equities over five and 10 years and showed the largest outperformance since the early 1980s.
The outcome of the potential war in Iraq would prove property’s resilience, it said.
It was not expecting a repeat of the property market crash of the early 1990s because of lower commercial property development in the last decade.
