Company failures expected to rise even higher

Company failures are expected to pass their 2009 peak as inflation batters businesses.

Company insolvencies last month were 35% higher than before the pandemic as the bleak economic picture takes its toll.

There were 2,029 corporate insolvencies in England and Wales last month, which was also 21% higher than a year before.

Compulsory liquidations were five times higher than last year and 7% higher than November 2019.

Corporate recovery specialists Begbies Traynor and FRP Advisory said on Tuesday that they expected further distress.
