The search has begun for a design team to deliver a new walking route between Camden Town and King’s Cross that is influenced by the New York High Line.
The Camden Highline scheme aims to create a space that will aid wellbeing and increase biodiversity, as well as being a leading example of sustainable development by using 1.1km of disused railway viaduct.
Key contributors to the charitable project so far have included LabTech, King’s Cross Central Limited Partnership, Camden Council and business improvement district Camden Town Unlimited, which started the project in 2017.
Prior to the outbreak of coronavirus, it was estimated that the Camden Highline could attract 1.3m visitors annually and contribute £16m of spending in the surrounding areas.
A shortlist is expected to be announced at the beginning of November.
