One per cent of all internet searches in America are for property or realestate service providers, according to a survey by NewRealty.com, aCalifornian company which develops computer technology for US estateagents.
Speaking at Real Estate Connect 98 in San Francisco, a conference about property and new technology, president of NewRealty.com PatrickBoyle said: “It’s encouraging for the industry that people are stilllooking for realtors and not just property.”
Boyle’s remark underlines how completely the internet is accepted as aproperty marketing tool on the west coast of America, where residentialproperty listings and mortgage services are routinely advertised on theworld wide web.
The survey sampled 700,000 internet searches of which over 4,000 wereproperty-related. About 400 of the searches were for professional services, confirming that although web-surfers are looking for property, they are alsostill looking for advice.
“There were a surprising number of brand-name searches, but there is still alot of room to grow business on the internet,” observed Boyle.
Some 1,620 queries included either a state or a city, suggesting that evenin the virtual world, location remains important.
