Connex Rail took over the South Eastern franchise covering Kent and Sussex. Now it hopes to add to more before privatisation is completed. It has been shortlisted in the bidding for Great Eastern and it is preparing bids for several others, including Central Trains, North East and North West Regional Railways. It is also considering bidding for InterCity West Coast. It took over the South Central franchise covering south London and Sussex, last May.
