Conran Shop plans openings

The Conran Shop intends to open stores out of London for the first time by taking advantage of the rising number of empty properties in shopping centres.

The upmarket furniture outlet, founded by Sir Terence Conran, is expected to break into the black after years of losses. In addition to its two London stores, The Conran Shop has outlets in Paris, Dublin, New York and Japan.

It has run a temporary “pop-up” store in the Westfield complex in West London for six months and wants to try the idea elsewhere. Nick Moore, managing director, said he would be looking at Manchester and Glasgow for sites.
