Consignia disposals to begin with Parcelforce depot sales

More than 50 Parcelforce depots will hit the market this month as Consignia prepares for a major property disposal programme.

The beleaguered postal group announced in March that up to 15,000 jobs and 3,000 urban post offices were to face the chop as part of a major cost-cutting programme aimed at stemming loses of £1.5m a day.

Head of disposals Rowland Thomas said: “There is a 90-day cooling-off period. By the end of June, we will have the all-clear to place the Parcelforce depots on the market through different agents.”

Most of the Parcelforce depots to be sold are leasehold properties located on industrial estates.
