Great Western Developments and Sellar Paddington have announced the latest public consultation for their proposed £1bn scheme in Paddington, W2.

More than 45,000 residents and businesses have been invited to discuss the plans for the former Royal Mail sorting and post office site adjacent to Paddington Station.

Original plans for Irvine Sellar’s controversial 72-storey “Paddington Pole” tower were withdrawn in late January after Westminster City Council pulled support because of its height. The withdrawn plans were due to be decided on 8 March.

Revised proposals show the tower almost halving in height from 254m to 125m, but increasing by almost 50% in width.

Following the consultations a revised planning application for the development is expected to be submitted before the end of September.

Sellar, who built the Shard, SE1, wants to create a new gateway to Paddington Station, to include £65m of private investment to improve transport and infrastructure at the site. Upgrades to the station entrances and improved public realm have also been proposed.

For those interested in attending the consultation, public meetings will be held at 124-148 Praed Street, W2, at the following times:

Friday 24 June from 2pm to 8pm

Saturday 25 June from 10am to 4pm

Monday 27 June from 2pm to 8pm
