Contractor named to deliver £140m Westminster scheme

McAleer & Rushe has been appointed as a contractor on a £140m project that will see the site of the former London Taxi Drivers’ Association HQ in Westminster transformed into a co-living and hotel community.

The project, whichis being delivered by The Collective with Cheyne Capital as funding partner, is set to create 332 modern co-living rooms alongside a wellbeing centre, swimming pool and cinema.

The scheme will also include 11,840 sq ft of workspace designed for small and medium-sized enterprises, start-ups and craftspeople. Around 20% of the space is expected to be capped at affordable levels to encourage community-led projects and the creative industries.

Elsewhere, the plans include public realm enhancements including a 16,000 sq ft waterside piazza and 23,680 sq ft of green biodiverse roofs.

The development is set to be completed in 2023.

Mark Elliott, contracts director at McAleer & Rushe, said: “This community-focused scheme will have a transformative impact on the local area through the social value it will add with its dedicated community space and the economic value it will generate, via the allocation of affordable small business hub workspace.”
