Cooke confirmed as BCSC chief executive

Edward_Cooke_2016Ed Cooke has been appointed chief executive of the British Council of Shopping Centres.

He had been acting chief executive since the surprise departure of John Coyne in April.

Cooke was previously director of policy and public affairs at BCSC. Before that he was a senuor policy adviser at the British Retail Consortium

Mark Bourgeois, BCSC president and executive director at Capital & Regional, said: “The board are delighted to have appointed Edward as chief executive. He is a highly-respected and long-standing member of the team, has made a transformational contribution to BCSC and played a major role in forming our new strategy.”

Cooke said: “There has never been a more exciting time to lead BCSC. The retail property sector continues to adapt to the way consumers shop and places evolve.

“Technological revolution has had a profound impact on our industry and BCSC is well placed to support businesses operating in the increasingly diverse world of retail property and place making to respond to change.”

BCSC’s new name and brand is set to be revealed on the first day of the BCSC 2016 conference in Manchester on 14-15 September.
