Cooking up a storm, Latino style

It’s a hard life being a surveyor when you have to down mojitos before 11am.

But there was a good excuse.

Expertly making and tasting the Latin drink was part of last month’s eighth annual Property Chef of the Year competition. Co-sponsored by Davis Coffer Lyons and Estates Gazette, this was held at Latin American restaurant Las Iguanas at Festival Walk, next to the Royal Festival Hall in London.

The 20 competitors cooked moqueca, a spiced seafood dish.

They then set about answering a Latin-themed quiz.

The top three teams held a cook-off, making fajitas, before head chef Abs Patil declared the winning team to be: David Toubian from Richard Susskind Adrian Saunders of Cushman & Wakefield and Martin Bloom from Insight Retail.

The first runners-up were Rob Meadows and Chris Bickle of Davis Coffer Lyons, and the second runners-up were Daniel Cunningham and Catherine Myhre of Estates Gazette editorial.

Also taking part were: Seb Howard and Jason Grant, CB Richard Ellis David McCosh and George Brooks, Stephen Kane & Co Anthony Alder and Panayiotis Themistocli, AG&G Dean Gambles and Laura Faconti, Gilmarc Associates Andrew Moore & Billy Couper, Christie + Co Dave Allen and Rob Monaghan, Estates Gazette advertising and Ted Schama and Nathan Wogman, Shelley Sandzer.
