Cordwell starts work on leisure complex in Harrogate, north Yorkshire

Birmingham-based Cordwell Leisure is building a £2m cafe and restaurant development close to the main shopping area of Harrogate in North Yorkshire.

The company, which also developed Birmingham’s Regency Wharf, has pre-sold two of the three units planned for the John Street site to brewing companies. Wolverhampton & Dudley Breweries Group will operate a cafe in a 510 sq m (5,500 sq ft) outlet while Marstons has acquired the adjoining 441 sq m (4,750 sq ft) unit for use as a pub. The final unit is on the market at £60,000 pa.

Cordwell director Malcolm Wilcox said the development complemented retail schemes under construction in the town centre. “Our scheme is going to be part of the support infrastructure,” he claimed.

Work on the scheme starts today, and the tenants are expected to be trading by June next year.
