Cornwall URC plans £146.6m investment programme

Cornwall’s Urban Regeneration Company is to pump £146.6m into the urban regeneration of the towns of Camborne and Redruth.

Camborne Pool Redruth (CPR) Regeneration plans 15 projects that will create more than 250,000 sq ft (23,225 sq m) of offices, 200,000 sq ft  (18,580 sq m) of industrial space and around 1,000 new homes.

Around £19m is earmarked for Redruth and Camborne town centres, including 50,000 sq ft (4,645 sq m) of retail on the site of Camborne bus station.

Among the largest proposals are a £30m residential scheme at Tuckingmill in Camborne, and the £25m redevelopment of the former CompAir site, also in Camborne, to include housing, offices and light industrial space.

At Trevenson Road, Pool, there are plans for 215,000 sq ft (19,974 sq m) of business space, including 50,000 sq ft (4,645 sq m) targeted at IT occupiers.

CPR Regeneration is working alongside South West Regional Development Agency, English Partnerships, Kerrier council, Cornwall council and the EU’s Objective One programme for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

The intention is to transform a five-mile corridor along the inland western spine of Cornwall.
