Corporation submits plans for Blackfriars’ Bridge House

The Corporation of London has submitted a planning application for a 32,000 sq ft redevelopment of Bridge House, 181 Queen Victoria Street, EC4.

Bridge House, which is on the Northern end of Blackfriars Bridge, is owned by the Bridge House Trust and its sole trustee is the Corporation of London.

Architects Make and EPR have been appointed to design the City gateway office scheme, which will include a riverside café with public access.

The building, which is cantilevered over the Blackfriars underpass, will vary in height from three to four storeys in order to preserve and enhance the views of St Paul’s Cathedral.

Ted Hartill, City surveyor, Corporation of London said: “Bridge House will make an outstanding contribution to the urban fabric of Blackfriars, which is already home to a number of major employers, including Unilever and KPMG.

The Corporation intends to replace the existing building with this stunning scheme and attract a further major occupier.”
