Corrie site set for 1.2m sq ft of offices

The scale of redevelopment plans for ITV’s 13-acre Quay Street site in Manchester was revealed this week after the council endorsed its regeneration framework.

The site, home to the Coronation Street set, is being sold through Jones Lang LaSalle ahead of ITV’s relocation to Peel’s MediaCityUK in Salford later this year.

Its future owner could now build as much as 1.2m sq ft of new and refurbished offices on the land, plus a high-end residential quarter with 895 homes, 200,000 sq ft of shops and leisure and a 575-space multi-storey car park.

ITV is also examining the possibility of a leisure attraction based around the Coronation Street set. ITV came close to selling the site to hotelier Surinder Arora for around £100m in 2008, but the sale fell through as a result of the recession. Drivers Jonas Deloitte advised ITV on the development framework.
