Council backs Ask’s Urmston redevelopment

Trafford Council has given the green light to a £43m regeneration scheme for Urmston Town Centre.

The scheme, developed by Ask Developments in partnership with Trafford Borough Council, was unanimously approved subject to confirmation by the Government Office for the North West.

Plans includes 140 flats, 24 retail units, a supermarket, a library, cafes and restaurants around a public square and 640 car parking spaces.

Work will begin on phase one of the scheme, featuring the new library and supermarket, in autumn this year and is due to open in 2008.

Adam Higgins, Director at Ask Developments said: “We are very pleased with the Council’s decision and thrilled to see this popular scheme get the go-ahead.

“We will be investing our £43m with great confidence in Urmston and expect that this will act as a catalyst to other investors who will be looking to create jobs and prosperity in the town.”
