Barratt Developments and Ashfield Land have been given the green light for a £600m housing-led development at Aylesbury East in Buckinghamshire.
The joint venture partners have received outline consent from Aylesbury Vale council for a major scheme including 2,450 homes, two schools and neighbourhood centres.
Around 25 acres have been set aside for commercial development.
Ashfield Land director Nick Jones said: “There is an urgent requirement for housing in this region and this development will go some way to addressing the needs in Aylesbury Vale.”
The first phase (pictured), including infrastructure and housing is expected to start on site later this year.
Ashfield Land owns 290 acres of the 756-acre site, which is under the control of Barratt. The pair first lodged an outline planning application in December 2010.
Ashfield Land has a portfolio valued in excess of £250m. It is currently seeking commercial development and investment opportunities, as well as strategic land deals, across the UK.
Bidwells advised on planning.
