Worthing Council and developer LCR are selling a residential scheme with an end value of £50m.
The pair have secured consent for 169 homes, alongside a hotel and a cinema extension at Union Place, and instructed Knight Frank to sell the 2.7-acre seaside site.
The land includes the former police station. It has been vacant for more than a decade, after various private developers failed to bring forward viable schemes. Worthing Borough Council bought the site in 2010 and secured outline planning consent last November.
Tim Traynor, associate in the residential development land team at Knight Frank, said: “In the wake of Covid-19, Knight Frank has seen a marked increase in demand for properties outside of London that are close to green and blue open spaces. This, coupled with the strong local demographics, suggests that, once built, Union Place will be in high demand by potential purchasers.”
