Council plan to kick-start Runcorn regeneration

Halton borough council has announced plans to make use of its properties in the centre of Runcorn in a bid to spark residential-led regeneration in the Cheshire town.

On behalf of the council, Savills has published a “Runcorn Prospectus” that identifies areas of the town centre within which the local authority will bring forward a range of sites for development.

The council has invited expressions of interest from developers, investors, occupiers and landowners.

The 6.3-acre Crossville site, located on the waterfront of the River Mersey will be made available for the first phase of the regeneration drive.

Barry Allen, development director at Savills, said: “The Runcorn Prospectus is an exciting document that highlights a number of sustainable and achievable regeneration and renewal opportunities, which will revitalise the centre of Runcorn. There is strong potential to transform the traditional centre and put it on the map for inward investment and development.

“We have worked closely with the council to create the Prospectus and they are very much committed and focused on the delivery of the regeneration plans and will be flexible in their approach in order to facilitate development/investment across the centre.”
