Brent council has outlined its £750m vision for turning the Wembley area into a “world-class visitor centre”, with the National Stadium at its heart, by 2020.
The council envisages a 12,000-seat concert venue next to the existing Wembley Arena, a rebuilt convention centre and a town hall, incorporating a library and an arts facility to rival the Pompidou Centre in Paris.
The catalyst for the regeneration programme is the £352m, 90,000-seat national stadium that is planned for Wembley.
Brent’s masterplan incorporates a 44-acre (17.8ha) site owned by Quintain, which is earmarked for a 4m sq ft (371,600 sq m) urban village.
