Countryside has reported a 31% rise in completions in the first half of the year.

In a trading update ahead of its results in May, the housebuilder said it completed 1,437 homes, with sales rates up from 0.79 to 0.89 per week in the six months to 31 March. The total forward order book rose by 69% to £347.1m.

While PRS completions were up by 5% to 330, home completions rose by 42% to 358.

Countryside said that customer demand, government support and mortgage availability had underpinned growth in the first half of the year and that it expected further growth, particularly in its partnerships with local authorities and housing associations.

Countryside secured 4,225 new plots in its partnerships division, bringing its total to 16,124.

Ian Sutcliffe, group chief executive, said: “Sales rates, values and outlet openings have exceeded our expectations, leading to the strong growth in completions and a record forward order book.

“We look forward to continuing our sector leading growth trajectory and remain confident of making further progress on our medium-term targets as laid out at our IPO just over a year ago.”
