Countryside profits climb 2.5%

Countryside Properties has posted half-year pretax profits up from £12.2m to £12.5m on sales up from £160.5m to £186m.

It said it was experiencing strong demand across its full range of housing.

This was despite a slowing after the 11 September that hit higher-priced properties in the South East.

Michael Pearce, finance director, is retiring after 30 years. The shares fell 10.5p to 211.5p.
