A £43m project to redevelop 161.88h (400 acres) at Brands Hatch has received local planning consent after more than a year of examination.
The project will enable the Kent track to stage the Formula One British grand prix from 2002.
John Prescott, deputy prime minister, is expected to give a final verdict within the next few weeks.
