Coventry council enlists development executive

Coventry City Council has completed a reorganisation of its city centre and development services division with a senior appointment.

Richard Moon, 43, has joined the local authority as senior development executive from Worcester-based property developer Maximus Group. Prior to working at Maximus, Moon has also worked for Midland Oak, Bryant Properties and Barberry Group.

Moon will report to David Cockroft – assistant director, of city centre and development services – who is spearheading the city’s £1bn retail-led regeneration.

Cockroft said: “We have assembled a team which has extensive experience in the private sector and which is equipped to bring forward some of the massive development opportunities in the city.

“We recognise the need to have a very positive and productive relationship with developers, and Richard – with his 20 years experience – is perfectly placed to help us take that forward.”

Coventry is aiming to double the retail area of its city centre after recently undertaking a re-masterplanning exercise.
