A scheme to redevelop the former passenger facilities at Coventry Airport has moved forward following the submission of a reserved matters planning application.
The property division of Sir Peter Rigby’s the Rigby Group has submitted the plans for the scheme, known as Imperial Park, to Warwick District Council.
Outline planning permission was secured last December to build a manufacturing and distribution hub on the site. Rigby Group will also issue invitations to tender for the park’s construction next month.
Plans include three self-contained units of 63,500 sq ft, 165,000 sq ft and 350,000 sq ft. If the plans are approved, work would start on site in August, with practical completion in spring 2017.
The land has lain vacant for almost eight years following the closure of Coventry Airport’s passenger terminal and associated buildings.
The area has a shortage of new manufacturing and distribution space.
Letting agents are Cushman & Wakefield, Colliers International and D&P Holt Commercial.
