Cracks in funding story told by failed estate agent Emoov

The collapsed estate agency Emoov may have failed to give crowdfunding investors accurate information when it raised almost £2m just four months before it went into administration.

Emoov, which claimed to be the second-biggest online estate agency after Purplebricks, said it was worth £100m when it raised £1.8m from 1,064 investors on Crowdcube last August. The valuation was later cut to just over £50m and Emoov filed for insolvency in December.

Documents aimed at enticing prospective investors, which have been seen by The Sunday Times, showed Emoov to be in good health while behind the scenes it was losing millions of pounds.
